Aircraft Ferry Pilot — Florida & beyond

Jesse Gonzalez, an independent commercial and instrument-rated pilot based in South Florida, ferries single-engine and light-piston twin airplanes from South Florida across the continental US and to the Bahamas. Moving an airplane and don't want to do it yourself? Weather-conscious, communicative, and flown like the owner is in the right seat.

When you'd want a ferry pilot

  • Post-purchase delivery — you bought an airplane out of state; have it flown home
  • Pre-sale repositioning — move an airplane to where the buyer or the market is
  • Maintenance moves — to or from a shop, avionics installer, or paint/interior facility
  • Seasonal relocation — snowbird airplanes moving with their owners

How it works

  • Single-engine and light-piston twin airplanes (172/182/206/210, Bonanza, Cirrus, Baron, Seneca, Aztec, and similar)
  • CONUS coast-to-coast and Caribbean (Bahamas) routes, planned conservatively
  • Single-pilot IFR-capable; go/no-go driven by weather, not by schedule pressure
  • Owner's insurance coordinated; named-pilot or open-pilot requirements confirmed before departure
  • Daily progress with photos, fuel receipts, and a clean logbook entry on delivery
  • Discreet handling for high-value and pre-purchase aircraft

Ferry is a commercial-pilot operation under 14 CFR Part 91 — not flight instruction — which is why light-piston twins are included even though multi-engine instruction is not offered.

Aircraft ferry — frequently asked

What is an aircraft ferry pilot?

An aircraft ferry pilot is a qualified pilot you hire to fly an airplane from one location to another — for example, picking up an airplane you just bought and delivering it home, repositioning one for sale, or moving it for maintenance. It's a commercial pilot operation under 14 CFR Part 91, not flight instruction.

What aircraft can you ferry?

Single-engine and light-piston twin airplanes — types like the Cessna 172/182/206/210, Beechcraft Bonanza, Cirrus SR20/SR22, Piper singles, and light twins such as the Baron, Seneca, or Aztec. As a commercial pilot with multi-engine and instrument ratings, Jesse can ferry piston twins even though multi-engine instruction is not offered.

Do you ferry to the Bahamas or across the country?

Yes. Ferry flights run coast-to-coast across the continental United States and to the Caribbean (Bahamas). Routes, fuel stops, and weather windows are planned conservatively, and the flight is flown single-pilot IFR-capable when conditions call for it.

How does insurance work for a ferry flight?

The aircraft owner's insurance typically covers the airplane during the ferry, and many policies require the ferry pilot to be named on the policy or to meet the open-pilot warranty minimums. Those details are confirmed with your insurer or broker before the flight.

How do I arrange a ferry?

Send an inquiry with the aircraft type, the pickup and delivery airports, and your timeframe. You'll get a reply within one business day to talk through routing, timing, and what the owner's insurance requires.
